Whether you are DIY-ing your website or bringing someone (cough: hope it’s us) to do your website for you, don’t build your website until you’re sure of these five things. Actually – we won’t even start with Clients without answers to these questions.
Before doing anything in your biz, truly anything, you need to know your target audience. Ask yourself – Who am I talking to? What is your ideal client like? Where do they shop? Where do they spend their time? What’s important to them? How do they speak? Get into the nitty gritty.
After you’ve defined your target audience, it’s time to understand how your brand shows up for them. How you speak and what you say. What is your brand elevator pitch. What do you do and who for.
What is the purpose of your website? To educate? To sell products? To drive bookings? And how are you going to get there? How will you decide if your website is successful? But don’t forget to unpack and then figure out how people are going to get to your website.
I’m looking at you blogger friend, don’t forget to monetize that shit. And I mean way more than affiliate links. Think about the brand partnerships, monetizing your site traffic, selling ad space, lots of options ladies. And for all you service and product based biz babes out there – are you selling product online? Are you clearly laying the breadcrumbs and leading your users to your booking page where you can make a sale? MONETIZE THAT SHIT.
You’ve heard us say it 1000x, everything starts at brand. So before you even think abotu this website and what it will look like, first you need to know how your branding comes to life – what’s your logo, what are your colors (get specific), what fonts do you use and how, what is your brand’s personality, what textures do you use. Know your branding. Remember, the power of brand is you know a Venti coffee is from Starbucks before I even said Starbucks.
